A​my Mueller Benson, LICSW

Amy Mueller Benson, MSW graduated from St. Olaf college in 1992 with a BA in Psychology. She furthered her education by attending the University of Minnesota, graduating with a Master’s of Social Work in 1999.

Amy started her career in human services in school settings as a social worker for elementary aged children, and as a teacher at a Head Start. She also worked as a Children’s Program Director, working with children whose moms were in relapse chemical dependency treatment. Additional experience include offering support and mental health education to school aged children, ARMHS work, therapy, and as a group facilitator.

Amy enjoys working with a variety of clients and mental health concerns including, children and adolescents, chemical dependency, ADHD, and LGBTQ. She uses a strength-based approach, and is always client centered. The therapeutic approach is always client lead, while providing unconditional positive regard and empathy. Amy also utilizes DBT and CBT techniques to suit the goals of the client.

In her personal time, Amy enjoys spending time with her three children and dog, music, racket sports, and travel.
