Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports (CTSS)

Secure Base Counseling Center has been certified by the State of Minnesota to provide CTSS services to children and their families since February 2013.

Our Therapists, Mental Health Practitioners (MHPs), and Mental Health Behavioral Aides work as a collaborative team with parents and guardians. Their work will look like play – we assure you that very important skills are built through play! They provide services that can get kids back on track and bring peace and joy back into family life.

What are Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports?

CTSS is designed to be a comprehensive package of services that surrounds the child and family with therapeutic support to help a child get back on track developmentally. The services are offered in the office, in the home and in the community. CTSS is a team approach to support the whole family, identify and develop the skills the child needs in order to be successful in school, at home, with peers and in life.

CTSS Services are available online and in-person.

The Team

You

You are the expert on your child and your family. Your involvement in this process is essential to seeing positive change.

Your Child

Your child will do the work by practicing new skills in play with you, the therapist and the Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) or MHBA.

The Therapist

A master’s level trained therapist will assess for emotional and behavioral health issues, teach your child new ways to manage their behavior through child therapy, offer you support and education, provide direction for the Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) and/or MHBA.

The Mental Health Practitioner (MHP)

The Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) is a highly trained and experienced mental health practitioner who works under the supervision and direction of a licensed mental health professional. Their job is to teach and practice new skills with your child across environments and through the power of play.

The Mental Health Behavioral Aide (MHBA)

An MHBA is a paraprofessional who receives thirty hours of training in mental health and ongoing supervision from a mental health professional in order to provide high quality services to the family. The MHBA will use play to help the child develop skills that have been identified as deficits. This work is done in home and in the community to assist the child in building skills across environments.
