Madison Thingstad, BA
Madison Thingstad is a clinical trainee intern specializing in working with children, adolescents, and families. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in play therapy and client-centered practices, empowering clients to explore their strengths, process emotions, and develop healthier relationships. Madison values creating a safe, empathetic, and inclusive space where clients feel heard and supported.
Madison is earning her Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 2025. She is pursuing her Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) credential and has specialized training in Adlerian therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness techniques.
With five years of professional experience in the school system, Madison has worked closely with children and families, helping them navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, academic pressures, and behavioral concerns. She has a passion for supporting children through the crucial early years of development in the hope of setting them up for success in their future. Madison is particularly interested in using play therapy to help children process difficult emotions and develop coping skills in a way that feels natural and engaging to them.
Madison has worked with individuals across the lifespan and has experience supporting LGBTQ+ clients and families. Her work is rooted in principles of inclusivity, respect, and cultural competence to ensure clients feel valued and understood. She offers therapy at Secure Base Counseling Center through both in-person sessions and telehealth, making therapy accessible for all.
Outside of her role as a therapist, Madison enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog Arwen and traveling with her husband. Her hobbies include reading and looking for ways to continually learn and grow as an individual. Her Irish heritage deeply influences her values of connection and compassion.
