Madison Van Otterloo

Madison Van Otterloo, BS, is a graduate level intern who began working at Secure Base in 2025. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Iowa State University in 2023 and is pursuing her master’s in clinical mental health counseling at The University of Northern Iowa. She is working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). During
her practicum at Lutheran Services in Iowa she gained experience in individual therapy, working with both children and adults. She also has experience leading a wellness-based peer counseling group.

Madison prioritizes each person’s unique story through a person-centered and strengths based approach to growth and healing. She believes the most important piece of therapy is a trusting and collaborative relationships. Her clinical interests include anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. She is committed to supporting LGBTQ+ clients and creating a space that promotes self-acceptance.

Outside of work Madison enjoys spending time with her partner and their pets. She also likes reading, crafts, and nature walks.
