Early Childhood Day Treatment
Coming soon: Anticipated program start date in spring/summer of 2026
Secure Base Counseling Center is thrilled to offer an Early Childhood Day Treatment program in Northfield, MN! This program is specifically designed for children ages 2-7 who may not be thriving in standard daycare or school settings or are at risk of being removed from their daycares or schools due to behavior concerns. These behaviors may be symptoms of complex mental health needs.
Philosophy
At SBCC, we understand that parenting a child with challenging behaviors can be hard! We strive to be a place that provides person-centered, trauma-informed support to both your child and your family. Our clinicians are trained to use a social-emotional curriculum and a restorative justice approach to conflict through an attachment lens.
Your child will not be removed from our program due to behaviors – the team is trained to support your child no matter what type of behaviors are occurring.
Program Structure
Children and their families who take part in our day treatment program are provided services in a variety of settings, including a day treatment center, your home, and a play therapy setting in order to generalize skills across settings. This treatment approach, while intense, is meant to help your child get back on track developmentally with the goals of successfully returning to their standard school program. Typical day treatment programming for your child and family may include:
- 3 hours per day of group skills 5 days per week in our day treatment classroom
- Play therapy
- Family therapy
- In-home and/or community skills for your child
- Circle of Security parent education
Our Team
Our Early Childhood Day Treatment team consists of a program director, full-time therapists, graduate-level interns, and behavioral health practitioners. Each team member specializes in early childhood mental health and the therapists have been trained in DC 0-5 assessments.
We maintain a high ratio of adults to children because of the ages and complex needs of the children in our programs. This allows our team members to give individualized attention to each child and thoroughly respond to all group needs.
