Alexis Brooks, BS

Alexis Brooks, BS, is a graduate intern in the Masters of Social Work program at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. She will provide psychotherapy to clients at Secure Base Counseling. Alexis uses narrative therapy and strengths-based approaches to let clients be masters in their own lives and uses new skills from courses to help clients make new meanings of their experiences and to meet their overall goals. She is hoping to use a humanistic therapy to help clients highlight their personal growth, self discovery, and an individual’s inherent potential.
Alexis has experience working with adults in in-home parent education programs that have involvement with child protection services. She has developed skills and techniques to help meet clients where they are at and provides a safe and open environment for all. Other skills that Alexis focuses on are active listening, communication, cultural competence, critical thinking, advocacy, and organization skills.
Outside of work, Alexis likes to spend time outside, be with friends, and read books of her choice as much as she can. She also enjoys concerts and traveling as much as she can.
