Amber Larson, MA
Amber works collaboratively with all ages and backgrounds from a strengths-based and client-centered approach. Her favorite part of being a psychotherapist is bearing witness to healing and growth in her clients.
Amber received her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2016. She practiced as a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario, Canada, for 3 years prior to moving to Minnesota. She is currently a Clinical Intern at SBCC, pursuing her Minnesota licensure.
Amber has experience working with clients struggling with PTSD and complex trauma, Dissociative Identity Disorder, anxiety, eating disorders, domestic violence and more. She has received training in EMDR, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, IFS/parts work, and narrative work, all in order to best tailor treatment to each client and their needs. She believes that the best therapy is a combination of looking at the past with healing in mind, and finding strengths and resources within oneself to move forward.
Amber works out of the Northfield office.
Outside of the office, Amber homeschools her 4 children and enjoys four-wheeling and camping with her family. She also has a passion for cooking and enjoys making things from scratch as much as possible!
