Benjamin Murray
Benjamin Murray, graduate-level intern, provides psychotherapy to adults, couples, and children using a whole person centered approach that focuses on all aspects of an individual’s health. He enjoys using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, skills, and practices that will allow people to identify and change thought patterns and behaviors which will improve overall mental health functioning. Ben often combines this approach with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help people accept their thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental way which will empower them to make healthy choices that align with their true and authentic selves. Ben is currently enrolled at the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School pursuing his Licensed Professional Clinical Counseling degree specializing in the treatment of substance use and co-occurring disorders.
Ben has several years of experience working at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, a primary mental health treatment organization, as a Patient Care Technician. In this role, he has had success helping people on every level in the continuum of care from inpatient to intensive outpatient treatment programs working with all genders. He is familiar with many recovery programs beyond the traditional AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous), including Celebrate Recovery and Quest 180 for individuals who use a spiritual approach in their program and SMART recovery for those who use a more mindfulness approach. He is well versed in the Refugee Recovery program which is a Buhdists path to freedom from addiction in addition to the Native American Wellbriety recovery program. Ben truly offers a uniquely tailored approach for each individual to meet their needs and goals.
