Emily Hazlett

Emily Hazlett Secure Base Therapist

Emily is a graduate student working towards a Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychological Services from St. Mary’s University. Emily also received a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family studies at Penn State in 2012. She enjoys working with adolescents and adults who are navigating issues related to identity and sense of self within different contexts, particularly during times of life transitions and personal change.

Emily’s practice is rooted in the healing power of relationships. She creates a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel valued and understood, enabling them to explore their identities within their unique contexts. She integrates a compassionate, client-centered approach with evidence-based techniques to support personal growth and empowerment. Emily believes that identity and values are shaped by life experiences and cultural influences, and that having a better understanding of oneself can lead to stronger relationships and stronger communities.

In addition to seeing clients, Emily teaches psychology classes at Carleton and St. Olaf. She enjoys being outside, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and crossword puzzles. She lives in Northfield with her husband, two children, and lazy cat.
