About Working At SBCC

Job hunting can be exciting, stressful, and maybe a little overwhelming. It might be hard to know just from an agency’s website whether or not a place will be the right fit for you. What might you need to know about a potential employer? We hope to offer you some transparency about our agency that will help you to make the best decision for you!

    Relationships & Collaboration

    Relationships:

As an organization, we believe that change and growth happen within the context of a trusting relationship. This is true with the clients we serve, and it’s true with our staff. We believe in building a culture where employees feel safe to make mistakes and feel celebrated in their achievements. We want our employees to feel genuinely cared for within a professional space.

    Collaboration:

Every employee has something important to contribute to our agency and the agency cannot run without feedback from staff. It is important to us to hear ideas from staff, whether the ideas come informally during a meeting, or more formally through the use of staff surveys. Many of the supports that we currently offer to staff exist because someone suggested it. We are a better organization because of each person on our team.

    Flexibility

Not every clinician has the same needs or capacity – some clinicians can manage a larger caseload of clients while others prefer a smaller caseload. We want you to have a position that is the right fit for you. Therefore, we offer both part-time AND full-time positions, and we offer salaried AND pay-per-code positions. Pay-Per-Code positions are best for individuals whose priority is flexibility and working as much or as little as they want. Salaried positions are for those individuals whose priority is consistent and stable pay.We have opportunities for hybrid telehealth positions as well.

    Support

We all entered into the mental health field because we care about supporting clients. But who supports us? As an agency, we offer various supports to our staff so that we can not only be successful but thrive. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

    • A support staff team who schedules clients and manages some of the administrative tasks.
    • A billing team that handles insurance and other billing responsibilities
    • Clinical supervisors who provide support to interns and clinical trainees through group and individual supervision
    • A site supervisor at each office
    • Consultation groups for licensed professionals
    • Quarterly All-Staff meetings with food and fellowship
    • On-site and virtual continuing education opportunities (CEUs)
    W2 Employees

At SBCC, we use a W2 employment model. It can feel unclear how a W2 model differs from 1099 independent contracting or private practice models. In short, 1099 and private practice models mean you are completely independent and cannot rely on your employer for any supports or costs according to federal laws.

As a W2 employee, we pay for many of those costs – which can add up quickly! Below is a (not exhaustive) list of many of the benefits and things that the agency pays for:

    • All payroll taxes, including federal and state withholding, Social Security tax, MN Care tax, Unemployment Insurance tax and more
    • Coverage for Liability insurance and Legal representation
    • Coverage for Insurance take-backs (often referred to as “claw-backs”)
    • Credentialing with all payers and insurance panels
    • Marketing for client referrals
    • Scheduling of client intakes
    • On-site and virtual continuing education
    • 50% of employee healthcare premiums
    • An electronic health records (EHR) system
    • HIPAA compliant G-Suite for telehealth sessions, emails, etc.
    • A virtual office phone and voicemail box via our 8×8 system
    • On-boarding and annual 245I DHS training
    • Emergency medical leave
    • Bereavement days
    • PTO and PTO bonus options
    • 8 weeks of 100% Employer-paid maternity leave
    • Rosen Bodywork sessions at reduced rates for staff and their families
    • Regular paychecks every bi-weekly pay-period for all Salaried and Pay-Per-Code employees (whether insurance has reimbursed or not!)

    Employee Reviews

    Retention:

We know that we won’t be the right fit for every person, but we hope that many clinicians will continue with SBCC for a long time. Continuity of care for our clients is so important, and changing jobs can also be hugely stressful on us as clinicians. We strive to be a place where clinicians can succeed and feel at home. Below are some ways that we try to support our employees so that you can continue to grow in your career:

    • Annual raises for all employees
    • Raises that accompany promotions and other role changes
    • Career growth and opportunities for leadership within the organization
    • New programs – what would you like to see at SBCC? We want to support you in making those visions a reality and/or empowering you to try something new!
