Increasing Access To Therapy for ALL Minnesotans

The provision of online mental health therapy directly in American Sign Language (ASL) addresses Deaf, DeafBlind, and hard of hearing Minnesotans’ critical need for access to culturally affirming care, eliminating various barriers such as geographic location, transportation challenges, and limited availability of ASL-fluent Deaf therapists. Pursuing therapy with James Poteet, a Deaf therapist, ensures effective communication and allows for connective experiences where community members feel seen and understood, reducing feelings of isolation. This creates a more inclusive mental health care system, offering timely and specialized support to those who might otherwise struggle to find accessible, quality care.
