Lauren Walter, BS
Lauren Walter is a Clinical Intern earning her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Dakota. Lauren’s connection to SBCC began before graduate school, when she worked as a Mental Health Practitioner for two summers. She is excited to continue growing as a clinician and supporting clients through their own unique experiences.
Lauren enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults and is particularly interested in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, and eating disorders. She takes a collaborative, client-centered approach to therapy, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused techniques.
In addition to her clinical experience, Lauren worked as a graduate assistant in the Center for Career Design, where she supported college students as they explored their interests and considered potential career paths. This experience strengthened her interest in helping people better understand themselves and identify paths that align with their goals and values.
Outside of therapy, Lauren enjoys spending time with loved ones, being outdoors, and staying active. She also coaches a softball team and is currently working toward becoming a certified yoga instructor. These interests reflect her belief in the importance of connection, movement, balance, and taking care of the whole person.
Lauren sees clients in the New Prague office.
