Master’s Level Internship

Secure Base Counseling Center is looking for interns! Students who are enrolled in an accredited Master’s program may be qualified to participate in our internship program.

Please Note: Currently hiring for in person positions in New Prague, Northfield, and Farmington. Some office locations are more limited in the number of interns we can accept.

Experience Gained

​Secure Base Counseling Center offers a self paced practicum experience.

Students receive a broad range of experiences as an intern at Secure Base Counseling Center (SBCC) including:

  • Practice clinical skills by working with clients in the community, in home, via telehealth and in offices.

  • Learn about our philosophy of relational work with clients from an attachment perspective.

  • Work collaboratively with other therapists and your clinical supervisor to create treatment plans with clients.

  • Learn and utilize the clinical documentation process including progress notes, consultation notes, treatment plans, and diagnostic assessments.

  • Conduct assessments.

  • Understand compliance with billing and clinical documentation policies.

  • Benefit from individual and group supervision.

  • Attend case consultation meetings.

  • Enjoy opportunities for internal educational seminars.

     

Skills Needed

Successful candidates will:

  • Be willing to work from an attachment perspective and with a team approach.

  • Be enthusiastic about providing service and using their clinical skills.

  • Have experience working with children and families.

  • Be curious and learning all the time. 

Pay

Quarterly stipends are available to students while participating in their internship at SBCC.  Information on the stipend program is available though the HR department. Many students find that SBCC is a good fit for their career and apply for employment during their internship. All students are encouraged to consider employment at SBCC.

You should apply at least 1 month prior to the desired semester start date.

Freedom to Act

Employee is generally free to organize and prioritize own job duties, as well as assignments to other support staff, and knows where to refer people for assistance or guidance when necessary – or appropriately follows up to acquire a resolution. Employee works independently and with minimum supervision in carrying out necessary tasks. Employee is able to make decisions and answer questions using written resources such as the Employee Handbook, policy and other resources. In the rare event the Clinical Administrator is not available and the need is urgent, direct contact with the Clinical Director may be sought.
