Benefits of Online Therapy
Comfort
Telehealth allows you to meet with an experienced therapist from the comfort of your own home! For some, it feels easier to open up while in a familiar, safe space.
Flexibility
Life is busy and finding a time to drive to an office may be hard for you! Telehealth gives you the ability to fit your hour of therapy into your schedule. Some clients meet after their toddler goes down for a nap, or during their lunch break from work. The possibilities are endless!
Accessibility
Telehealth can reduce many of the barriers to accessing mental health care. You may live in a small town with few mental health resources, or perhaps you do not have a vehicle so getting to an office is a barrier. Telehealth opens the door to services no matter what your life circumstances. You are also more likely to find a therapist who is a good fit for you because you are not limited to only therapists in your area.
Minnesota Weather!
The weather can be unpredictable in Minnesota! If you find yourself unable to drive to an office because of snowy conditions, or it’s just so cold you don’t want to leave your house, telehealth is a way for you to still see your therapist consistently.
Easy To Use
Your therapist emails you a link via a HIPAA-compliant platform, Google Meet, that can be accessed on your phone or a computer.
Commonly Asked Questions About Telehealth:
Will my insurance cover telehealth?
Yes! In almost all cases, insurance companies cover telehealth just like in-person therapy. We accept all major insurance. Check our Rates & Insurance page to confirm.
Is telehealth effective?
Absolutely. The research shows that telehealth can be just as effective as in-person services. Of course, telehealth is not the right fit for everyone and you and your therapist can make those decisions together. But for many, telehealth has the same benefits as traditional, in-person therapy.
What do I need in order to access telehealth?
A device with a camera such as a laptop, tablet, or phone, a strong internet connection, and a private space (as private as is comfortable for you). Phone therapy may also be an option if necessary but most therapists would prefer to be able to see you during a therapy session. There will be intake paperwork that will need to be completed prior to the session by you on your device as well.
